Book Review- I'm Glad My Mom Died

Image
I devoured this book, it hit close to home in ways I did not fully expect. I didn't watch this show but related to Jennette McCurdy on so many levels. Highly recommend this memoir, definitely heart-wrenching but such a good read. The honesty, vulnerability, and truth in McCurdy’s story were shocking and incredible. Jennette described in her memoir how it was to grow up with a narcissistic mother who is mentally and physically abusive and how it affected her entire childhood. Moreover, we get some insight into how it was for Jennette to be thrown into Hollywood as a child actor, and let me tell you it’s not pretty. #imgladmymomdied #bookreview #bookdiscussion #books #bookclub #jeanettemccurdy

Single on Purpose- Book Review

Image
A friend of mine recommended this while we were on vacation. First, of John Kim's work, I have read and really enjoyed it. As a married woman in a good relationship, I appreciated the parts about not giving up on yourself, getting comfortable, and letting yourself go. It's important to be your best version of yourself whether you are single or married. The best advice comes from personal experience. John Kim is not telling readers to avoid relationships. Instead, he is begging them to nurture the one relationship they cannot ever escape—the one with themselves. We should date ourselves daily. A great reminder and highly recommend, thanks John Kim for sharing your insight.
